CRECH believes strongly that Christian education is about more than teaching the Bible. Children must also be able to learn and implement values in their daily lives together with the skills and knowledge acquired.

Training centre

Through our training centre we support teachers and help increase their capacity. We aim to show them how to use our manuals and books as well as how to actively integrate biblical values in different subjects, whether it be French or mathematics. Above all, our goal is to improve their skills and knowledge of pedagogy. Together with the right tools, such as schoolbooks and skilled teachers, we can improve the level of Christian education in Haiti.

Our training centre is inspired by three sources: 1) Jesus Christ, 2) the philosophy of CRECH and 3) the Ministry of Education. In addition to supporting teachers, we also offer training courses to school directors and parents.

“Every day I dream for the department to have a unique space – with a large library and lots of research – where students can communicate and connect with others.” - Harry M. Casseus

What others said

“CRECH has great expertise in teaching children. They are our partners. Their extensive training and support help children feel valued. They give us hope for a better future.” – Marlène Sanon (headmistress, Collège Excelsior)

“As a Christian I believe in helping a new generation grow through Christian education. I am comfortable knowing how to integrate biblical values in my subjects of French and Creole.” – Florence Michel Alexandre (teacher, École chrétienne de la Communauté)

“I am a coordinator of the school at my church. Not having a background in education, I felt less valuable. Now that I have the skills, I feel more like an equal.” – Jude Montis (coordinator, École Bon Espoir)

Impact

2387 teachers – From 2006 to 2014, we have worked with 2387 teachers. Examples of themes include the use of manuals as well as pedagogical and biblical values.

25 trainings – We organise between 20 and 25 teacher trainings and courses per year. Often teachers who attend our courses tend to circulate within the same school. They are encouraged to train their fellow teachers afterwards.
